This report examines the state of Maryland’s policies and regulations on arts curriculum and instruction; determines the current status of arts education in Maryland schools; and, makes recommendations to the Governor’s P-20 Leadership Council regarding fine arts education in Maryland.
The Reagan Administration proposed budget cuts of approximately 50% for the National Foundation on the Arts and the Humanities, the major source of Federal Government support for the arts. Although the House and Senate budget reconciliation figures for the FY82 budget for the National Foundation on the Arts and the Humanities do not equal Reagan's proposed 50% cuts, they did represent approximately 30% to 35% cuts.
This is volume II of the Artsplan project, a project of the Arts Alliance of Washington State in cooperation with the Governor's Office of Cultural Affairs of the State of Washington. This volume provide the statistics and findings of the survey. In looking at the total project and impact of ARTSPLAN, the process did achieve the goals as set forth in the original proposal. The most extensive survey of arts groups and resources ever made in the state now exits in directory form. Over 3,000 individuals and 628 arts groups have worked together to define needs and find solutions.

This is a report of the Arts Task Force of the National Conference of State Legislatures. The National Conference of State Legislatures established the Arts Task Force in July, 1978, by inviting each state to appoint one or more members. From the Task Force's inception, its members demonstrated great interest and enthusiasm.
