Sara Ansell, Director of the Porch Light Program, joined Mural Arts in May 2011. She directs all aspects of the Porch Light Program and works closely with Yale School of Medicine to support their evaluation efforts. Sara graduated with a Masters of Social Work and a Masters of Social Policy from the University of Pennsylvania in 2009. During graduate school Sara researched how the built environment impacts health of individuals. Specifically, Sara researched access to healthy foods in North Central Philadelphia. During graduate school, Sara co-authored the Healthy Food Financing Handbook with The Food Trust and The Reinvestment Fund. After graduate school, Sara worked as a Health Policy Analyst at Mathematica Policy Research. During her time at Mathematica, Sara conducted research on SNAP (food stamps) and WIC policies. Sara also conducted research on foundation grants and their impact on the non-profit programs. Sara is thrilled to be working in program implementation and evaluation and believes strongly in Mural Arts' role in addressing public health through public art.
