Susan Appe is an Assistant Professor of Public Administration in the College of Community and Public Affairs, Binghamton University. Her academic research focuses on government-nonprofit relations and the dimensions and evolution of the nonprofit sector in the U.S. and Latin America. Appe’s publications are found across several journals including: VOLUNTAS: International Journal of Voluntary and Nonprofit Organizations, Administrative Theory and Praxis, Journal of Civil Society, and The International Journal of Not-for-Profit Law. She has taught several courses in arts management, public administration, and public policy. Currently developing a service-learning course at Binghamton University, which includes travel to Peru. Appe has a B.A. from Saint Michael’s College in Vermont and an M.A. from the University of Oregon in Arts Management. She received her Ph.D. in Public Administration and Policy from the Nelson A. Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy at the University at Albany, SUNY.
