Katherine Damkohler has served as Executive Director of Education Through Music (ETM) since 1995. A long-time inner-city educator, she is a former teacher and principal; as principal, she led one school to a U.S. Department of Education (USDOE) Blue Ribbon Award. As Executive Director, she has helped ETM grow to serve thousands of New York City children annually, provide professional development to organizations and schools across the country, establish 2 affiliate organizations in California, and receive a USDOE Model Development and Dissemination grant. Ms. Damkohler has spoken at conferences and panel discussions around the country, addressing principals, superintendents, and community leaders on school leadership and using the arts to revitalize schools. She has served as guest lecturer in curriculum and pedagogy at the Manhattan School of Music and is a member of the National Advisory Board of Arts|Learning. Ms. Damkohler holds an M.A. from Teachers College, Columbia University.
