Hey,
Last night I went on a dine-around which focused on Email Marketing. I had not gone on a dine-around the other two nights they were offered. The whole thing idea of a dine -around felt a little forced….but whoa…the discussion we all had! These mere two and half hours the nine of us spent in a completely empty restaurant in Houston was exactly why I came to this conference.
We talked about everything from email marketing to human resources. Everyone was cool, intelligent and helped me with questions I had – but did not have the right people around me to ask.
We had a woman from New Orleans in our group. Her space had been destroyed in Katrina. This was not the first story I have heard while being at this conference about a space being destroyed be a national disasters. Just imagine that….our work is so hard already…but then your roof blows off!? There is a lot of perspective that is gained while talking to these folks.
So, today is the last day. I am going to the session on pod casting and then making my way to the airport.
Will I come next year? Will Capital Fringe become members of Americans for the Arts?
Yes & Yes!
Why. Being at this conference I felt part of a larger dialogue on how the arts are practiced in the United States. I gained insight and wisdom…just form choosing to come here. I have made contacts that I can now reach out to and say…what do you think of this or what should I do here? This is huge a grand scale.
And okay….next year the conference is in Providence…and it looks way cool there!
ButPS. please have it at a hotel with FREE WIRELESS. The $10.95 per day from your room is so 1999.
Ciao,
Julianne!
